The read: at $35 buyers treat the product as a consumer item and complete the purchase flow without input. At $40 they start treating it as a considered purchase and want confirmation. That is a different buyer mode. Shops that respond to $40-tier messages within 3 hours close 58% of those conversations; shops responding the next day close 21%.

This is why $40 rewards shops that run messaging like a sales channel. Leaving the inbox until tomorrow morning is fine at $25. At $40 it is a conversion leak. The single highest-leverage change most $40-tier shops can make is a push notification on Etsy Seller app messages and a 5-minute daily clearing habit.
