The 20oz stainless skinny is the tumbler that sells. Walk any craft fair in the last three years and you will see more 20oz skinnies than any other sublimation blank. They stack well in shipping boxes, they fit almost every car cup holder in the US, and buyers understand the size on sight. If you are going to focus on one tumbler form factor for your shop, this is it.
What you will not see at most craft fairs is a consistent price. I have watched the same blank (the generic white-coated 20oz skinny from the big sublimation suppliers) sell for everywhere from $12 to $38. Some of those $12 sellers are losing money on every unit. Some of the $38 sellers are doing volume. Neither number tells you what yours should be. The calculator on this page does.
The math on a 20oz tumbler is simpler than the range suggests. A blank averages $4.50 from bulk suppliers. Ink and paper together run a dollar. Active labor is 10 to 14 minutes per tumbler once you are batching. Add overhead and a defensible margin and you land between $22 and $32 retail on a plain sublimation design. Glitter and epoxy add to that. The rest of this page walks through each input.
Step 1 of 4: Product
Product and materials
Start with what the item costs you before you touch it. Blank, paper, ink, and anything else you squeeze into the box.
Pick the closest blank to auto-fill average costs. You can override each one below.
What you pay your supplier per unit.
A-Sub, TruePix, or whatever brand you use.
Cartridge or ink bottle cost divided by prints per fill.
Tape, shrink wrap, butcher paper, lint roller. Per unit.

What a 20oz tumbler actually costs to produce
Start with the blank. The generic white-coated 20oz stainless skinny is the most widely stocked sublimation tumbler in North America. Bulk prices from Heat Transfer Warehouse and Conde Systems land in the $3.50 to $5.00 range when you buy a case of 24 or more. Sublimation Blanks Co and Sunrise Sublimation price similarly. Single-unit prices are often $6 to $7 at the same suppliers. If you see a blank under $3.20 from a lesser-known supplier, check the coating. Some off-brand blanks do not sublimate cleanly and you end up scrapping half the batch.
Ink and paper are the next line. On a Sawgrass SG500 with standard cartridges at $220 per set and 300 prints per set, a full tumbler wrap at 30% coverage runs about $0.80 in ink. A sheet of A-Sub paper at case quantity is $0.17. Other materials (shrink wrap, heat tape, butcher paper) add $0.20 to $0.25. Total materials per tumbler lands near $5.70 at bulk pricing, $6.50 or so at single-unit pricing.
Active labor is the line sellers miss. Prep (cut paper, tape wrap) is 3 minutes. Press (load oven or tumbler press) is 8 to 10 minutes of active handling per unit, less if you batch four in a convection oven. Pack (cool, clean, box, label) is 2 to 3 minutes. Call it 13 to 15 active minutes on a single, 10 to 12 on a batch of four. At a $25 hourly rate that is $4.20 to $6.25 of labor per tumbler. Ignore it and you are giving away 20% of your retail price.
Full per-unit cost breakdown
Materials $5.70 (blank $4.50, paper $0.20, ink $0.80, other $0.20). Labor $5.00 on a 12-minute average (12/60 times $25). Overhead $0.50 (electricity for the press plus per-unit equipment wear on a $280 combo press amortized over 5 years). Total per-unit cost near $11.20.
At a 55% margin (floor for sublimation), recommended retail is $17.36. Most sellers list at $20 to $22 to hold margin after Etsy fees take another 10% to 14% out. Premium retail (glitter plus epoxy finish, custom design) runs $28 to $38 at 70% to 85% margin. Craft-fair pricing typically runs $2 to $4 under Etsy listings because you skip platform fees.
Worked example: pricing a 20oz skinny for Etsy
Imagine you buy 20oz blanks at $4.50 per unit (case of 24). Paper $0.20, ink $0.80, other materials $0.20. Total materials $5.70 per tumbler. You press in 8 minutes active, prep 3, pack 2. 13 minutes total active labor. At $25 per hour that is $5.42 of labor. Electricity plus wear add $0.50. Total cost per tumbler is $11.62.
Multiply by 1.55 (55% margin) and your recommended retail is $18.01. That is the floor on an Etsy listing because Etsy fees will take another 10% to 14% out, and you want to keep a real 20% net margin at the end. List at $22 to $24 on Etsy to cover fees and still keep 22% to 28% after them.
For a craft fair where you do not pay platform fees, $18 to $20 works and gives you flexibility to bundle three for $50. For a custom design with 10 minutes of added design time, add $4.17 of labor and bump retail to $25. These are not arbitrary numbers; they are what the math produces when you enter real inputs into the calculator above.
Where to buy 20oz tumbler blanks
Heat Transfer Warehouse (heattransferwarehouse.com), Conde Systems (conde.com), and Sunrise Sublimation (sunrisesublimation.com) are the three most commonly referenced 20oz skinny suppliers among craft sellers. All three sell by the case of 24. Heat Transfer Warehouse tends to be slightly more expensive per unit but ships faster. Conde has strong color consistency on its coated blanks. Sunrise tends to win on price per unit at volume but has longer lead times.
Cheaper options exist on Amazon and Alibaba, but coating quality varies. If you buy off-brand, run a test print on one unit before committing to the case. The $0.50 per unit you save is not worth a batch of tumblers with splotchy color. Stick with named suppliers until you have run enough volume to recognize which off-brand coatings actually work.
